June 2023

Aloha Wailea Ekahi Homeowners,

It’s officially Summer at Ekahi with the arrival of a few groups, lots of families, and the usual demand for shade at the Pavilion. We are doing our best to monitor the saving of seats in shaded areas and ask that you speak to the Pool attendants if you ever need assistance finding a seat. Please be patient while we continue to search for an additional employee to assist with our Pool and BBQ department.

On July 7th, there will be a short Firework show at Wailea Beach. There was no permit pulled for Fourth of July fireworks in Wailea so please direct your guests to Lahaina if they are interested in celebrating Independence Day Tuesday July 4th. We ask that you remind your guests that fireworks are prohibited on property. Of course, we will post signage and prepare for the usual beach activity that night.

Traffic is impacted at Ekahi this week with a single lane closure along Wailea Alanui and traffic control in front of our entrances. The contractors overseeing the La’i Loa project above us are installing water lines for their required fire hydrants and they had to tear up the road along our property. The work will be on-going into next week. It’s pretty loud so if you own up by the road, you may want to alert incoming guests.

Our new traffic signal at Okolani and Piilani Highway is completed and fully operational.

The recent news about a propane shortage in Maui came early enough for us to take steps to conserve and I’m pleased to say that we weren’t affected, and our normal delivery takes place this week. The Pavilion BBQ Island re-build is underway, and the 2 new gas grills will be open for use on July 14th. We have seen some activity up at the ‘new’ location mauka of Pool 3 and are taking steps this week to beautify that area.

With my BBQ email update sent June 15th, there was a BBQ map attached to provide to guests. There was a typo in hours of operation that wasn’t caught with our edits. I do apologize for the miscommunication. Please note, the locations at Pools 1-3 and at Building 47, still close at 8:00 PM. I’ve attached a revised map with the corrections.

Our maintenance team has received lumber and will be getting underway with trellis repairs and replacements at a few of the building entrances in July and August. We are also busy pressure washing and staining sidewalks that were recently treated with bush-hammering to remove all the old paint built up. We will be scheduling about 10 more buildings in November of this year in an on-going effort to ease the annual maintenance and keep the aesthetic consistently pleasing.
