December 2023

Aloha Wailea Ekahi Homeowners!

Are you ready to serve your community at Ekahi?  Are you experienced on a Board of Directors and willing to offer your expertise? Maybe you’ve served before, and can find the time to volunteer again? Our nomination period is officially open, and applications can be submitted to CJ Anthony, our Board Secretary, by January 5th. I attached the form again for you and it can be sent back to secretary@waileakehai.org or dropped off at our office. In other exciting election news, we are pleased to share that our 2024 ballots, voting and election will be managed by Vote HOA Now, an electronic voting platform specifically tailored for HOA and AOAO voting.

We are starting to see some of the impacts of holiday travel and rising occupancy in Wailea. Please continue to update your arrivals and departures on a regular basis on the Ekahi website. For those of you that haven’t already noted the gate code change, effective December 29th our Pool, Pavilion and Pickleball gate code is C6087.

With parking in high demand, and our lots increasingly full over the next few busy months, we are asking for additional consideration when leaving your long-term stored vehicle at Ekahi. Our Board President, and Chair of the Parking and Security Committee, requests that you park a little further away from the building to allow visiting owners and guests the prime and most convenient spaces.

Up the road at the Wailea Fairway shops, there is a new cocktail lounge that just opened this month. Tikehau has outside covered seating, and a vibrant craft cocktail list. They are open daily from 3-11 pm, with a few drinks on happy hour from 3-4:30 PM. There are light snacks to enjoy as well, and we really liked the shrimp lettuce cups.

In other important cocktail news, the Four Seasons has a beautifully renovated bar at Ferraro’s that re-opened on December 15th with a new dinner menu that includes extended offerings like a caviar cart and a whole fish carved table side. Don’t forget to say hi to my husband George while you’re down there.

On January 16th, our maintenance team will be fencing off an area on the pavilion lawn for the installation of 2 new umbrella pads to offer additional shade. We understand this will create a disturbance during a busy time of year and with the Boards approval, moved the schedule back a couple weeks to allow for the full festive season’s high occupancy. We are excited to install these new umbrellas as the desire for shade and more umbrellas is brought up frequently by owners.  In January 2024, we will also be installing at least one additional umbrella at the 3 outer pools.

Wailea Community Association has announced a fee increase again for 2024. They still bill twice a year, and I’ve attached the new rates for your reference. Don’t forget one benefit of your membership includes notary services at their office in Wailea Gateway Center.

As 2023 draws to a close, we want to remind you that our offices will be shut on Monday December 25th and Monday January 1st. We will have staff coverage, including our new hire Kala, at our Pavilion on both of those holidays should you or your guests require assistance. Please note there is unusually high use of parcel lockers while everyone is Christmas shopping and do ask that you are timely with your mail retrieval in the lobby. We keep the doors unlocked until 10 PM for your added convenience.
