January 2024

Aloha Wailea Ekahi Homeowners,

To say we hit the ground running this year is an understatement. I barely had enough time to get the holiday glitter swept up before we had a delivery of new pool furniture, flooring delivered and installed in our fitness center, and then enough rain to bring adequate flow all the way down and through our gulch. Nothing like having waterfalls gently running down the middle of our property. Ekahi is truly the best!

That’s right, you read that correctly.  Our new pool furniture arrived and has been placed at all 3 outer pools and the Pavilion. With the high demand for shaded chaise lounge chairs, we are installing an additional umbrella at all 3 outer pools and 2 new umbrellas with pads at the Pavilion Pool.

Lauren parry, our hardworking BBQ Chairwoman, has made great progress with the design concept at BBQ Site 47. We are approved to construct an island that will house two 36” Firemagic propane BBQ’s, a seating area and the addition of a trellis, lighting, and enhanced landscape features. The stand-alone electric BBQ will remain at that location, and I encourage you to try it so we can determine if we want propane, electric, or both, at the other sites. There is a feedback survey posted adjacent to that electric grill so please bring your phone with you.

Mayor Bissen gave an update on the County Facebook page this week regarding the county’s progress and plans for housing displaced Lahaina residents that lost their homes. He had some specific messaging about STVR use. You can watch that recorded press conference here:

Now that I have you on Facebook, I see this as the perfect opportunity to tell you about our newest communication platform. Our Communications Committee is striving to keep owners involved with the Ekahi community happenings. Wailea Ekahi AOAO Group Facebook page will provide our community with more social engagement and fun interaction. Chloe Komiss, our Pool Department Manager, will be the administrator of this private group. To join, you will be asked 3 brief questions to confirm your ownership. This week Chloe posted the rain flow at the gulch, announced Ven and Evelyn’s birthdays, showed a few photos of the dark and stormy beach, and highlighted our new pool furniture. See?  Aren’t you curious?

By the time you receive this email, you should have gotten your invitation to our 2024 Election of Directors voting platform. Our full calendar of events, Pavilion and Pool closures and other Owner’s week information is easily available when you log-in to the Vote Hoa Now voting website. If you’re on Maui, we also have sign up forms for the golf event and the owner’s dinner available at Evelyns office. Please make sure your guests are aware of the Pavilion closures and restrictions of use during owners’ week. We have updated the Event Calendar on the Owners website for Owners Week as well.

Final words on our beautiful Pavilion. Our ice/water dispenser stopped producing ice, and we are fighting a warranty claim and trying to find a qualified service technician for repairs. We will provide an alternate solution for water soon since this is dragging out longer than expected. The fitness center is progressing well, and we are still tracking towards a soft opening on or around February 9th. Lastly, our lending library is always popular with guests, but we find that books rarely make their way back to the Pavilion shelves. If you have a surplus of books in your condo, please bring them to the AOAO office, or Pool office, and we will keep the shelves stocked.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
