Aloha Wailea Ekahi Homeowners,
About 15 minutes ago with a vote of 7-2, Maui County Council members passed Bill 88, the comprehensive zoning ordinance to establish H3/H4 hotel districts!! Our Board of Directors passed a motion in Executive Session this week, engaging legal counsel to assist with any zoning changes that help maintain Ekahi’s allowance for STVR use.
On Saturday July 4th there will be a 10- minute firework display beginning at 9:00 PM fronting Wailea Beach in front of the Grand Wailea. Wailea beach parks won’t be open passed 8:00 PM for parking, but the public can park at Wailea Shops or along Kaukahi Street adjacent to the Fairmont. If you are dining at Four Seasons or the Grand Wailea, you can be accommodated with resort parking. Our offices will be closed on Friday July 3rd in observance of Independence Day.
Please note the beach access and pool gate access codes are changing Friday July 10th. This is a busy time of year for our outdoor amenities, and we will post signs reminding your guests to check with the rental agent for access. The pool and beach access code will be C2381 and for the fitness center the new code will be C8106. This month, we added an outdoor workout bench with some strength training equipment, to invite users to enjoy the outside area of the gym and help with crowding during peak times.
We are less than 2 months away from the Pavilion Pool deck tile project getting underway. Our beach front pool will be closed from Monday August 10th through October 15th. The Pavilion amenities: fitness center, bathrooms, kitchen and BBQ, will be open and available for use. There will be dust cloths protecting the job site and restricting access, and the beach gate will remain closed during the project. Guests will be directed towards the access gate that leads to the public beach park at Keawakapu. There won’t be chaise lounge seating available on the beachfront lawn, but we will take extra chairs to the outer pools as we see demand for seating increase. Our enforcement of noise will be somewhat relaxed at the satellite pools to allow families to enjoy these recreational facilities.
With occupancy demands starting to pick up, it is especially important to send your guest and owner updates to our office. Shannon is doing an excellent job maintaining our reports with owner contact information, but we are still lacking on-island representation in more than 15 condos. Our house rules do stipulate this being a requirement for after hours and emergency representation when you are off island. Please let us know if you need a referral for these services.
1 Appointment of Agent
All Owners must appoint an agent or representative to be contacted relative to emergency situations or issues such as lockouts related to those who occupy the Owner’s apartment.
Ulua beach between Wailea Elua and Andaz will be undergoing parking lot repairs soon, so the circular drop-off area down by the showers will be closed for 2-3 months. Down on S Kihei Rd, the lower road fronting Kamaole 2 beach is still closed to thru traffic as they continue with repairs after the storm damages in March. This section of road is expected to remain closed with detours until Fall of 2026.
At the Board of Directors meeting on May 21, our directors passed a motion to move all their meetings to 9:30 AM HST to better accommodate the Board in various time zones throughout the year. The updated meeting calendar is attached. Please also note that we won’t have a regular board meeting in August, but there will be a special meeting called if applications to alter require approval, or if an Executive Session is required. Our next Board of Directors meeting is July 16th.
Happy Father’s Day to all of you Dad’s celebrating this Sunday!
