{"id":334,"date":"2025-11-17T21:40:49","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T21:40:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/waileaekahi.com\/blog\/?p=334"},"modified":"2025-11-17T21:40:51","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T21:40:51","slug":"report-projects-post-shutdown-ogg-travel-surge-with-tsa-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/waileaekahi.com\/blog\/?p=334","title":{"rendered":"Report projects post-shutdown OGG travel surge with TSA data"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>November 16, 2025 \u00b7 6:00 AM HST<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kahului International Airport (OGG) is expected to see one of the nation\u2019s steepest surges in passenger traffic this holiday season, according to a new analysis of Transportation Security Administration data by Luxury Link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luxury Link\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.luxurylink.com\/blog\/airports-with-biggest-traffic-surge-during-holiday-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a>&nbsp;draws on travel patterns from the 2024 holiday season\u2014 defined as the Friday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after, and the Friday before Christmas through Jan. 2 \u2014 compared to the rest of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the holidays in 2024, Kahului Airport recorded an 11.1% increase in daily passenger traffic, averaging 9,633 travelers per day compared to a non-holiday average of 8,674. That marks the sixth-highest jump among all midsize hub airports in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nationwide, air travel rose an average of 5.4% during the holidays, with the TSA screening nearly 2.6 million passengers daily \u2014 surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
