July 2023

Aloha Wailea Ekahi Homeowners,

Some of you may have been watching Tropical Storm Calvin last week, and our team battened down the hatches in anticipation of some incoming weather. We were all hoping for some rain, but the storm went by without a drop in Wailea. There were some high variable winds, and lots of humidity. Please note that we have emergency procedures posted on our website for easy guest access should you need to guide them there.

Our internal occupancy report was under 50% over July 4th weekend with maxed out pools and full parking lots. Our STR report for Maui showed island wide occupancy at 74%. This leads me to believe there is still inconsistency with reservations being reported, and in case of evacuation for a real emergency, this is obviously a concern.

The Pavilion BBQ area has recently been enhanced with new 24” 2-burner grills to replace the charcoal pit. We have seen some smaller parties already taking advantage of these new BBQ’s and we are taking this opportunity to fine tune the larger ones on the opposite side. I’ve attached a photo of the re-built island for you.

We have been busy working on building entrances, replacing wood trellises, and are finishing up the cement staining. National Roofing is on site completing the replacement flat roofs on our storage/trash rooms. Maui Light House wrapped up the work they were doing, and we are pleased to inform you that every building has a new house panel and sub-meter breakers. This sets us up for success when MECO comes down to install new sub-meter sockets later this year and into 2024.

Ekahi is one of the few condominium properties that still allows pets. There’s been a couple of new furry friends around, so I wanted to remind you all about our pet registration policy. We do require that all pets be registered with the office so we can quickly ascertain where the barking dog is or where your loose pet needs to be returned. Pets do need to be leashed at all times when outside of your unit. Please refer to attached House Rules section H.4 for Ekahi’s Pet Policy.

There have been a few requests in the office recently for pickleball equipment. I’m sure you all realize how popular this sport has become and that now it actually draws guests to Ekahi. Please consider purchasing and providing racquets and balls for your guests. We do have a local referral for rental equipment when they inquire.
